About Balanced Bodies Therapeutic Massage

Hello and thank you for visiting my website. My name is Melissa and I am a nationally certified, licensed massage therapist in Connecticut and a member of the American Massage Therapy Association.

Melissa Falvo, MS, LMT - Balanced Bodies Therapeutic MassageThe benefits of massage are varied and far-reaching. My reasons for pursuing a career in massage therapy are as well. With a Master’s degree in Biochemistry I studied the effects of chemotherapeutic drugs on protein formation. Although a very important and rewarding profession within the medical field, I was missing something. As a stay-at-home mom I devoted ten years to hands-on child-rearing. I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to stay at home with my children as their nurturer, teacher, playmate and disciplinarian. As my children grew, I spent numerous hours pondering my future. How can I use my life experiences, scientific background and enthusiasm for health and wellness as I re-enter the work force? As a healing art, as well as a science, massage therapy was the answer.

Massage therapy encompasses many techniques (Swedish massage, deep tissue, neuromuscular, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, sports massage, prenatal massage, and others) all for the benefits of relaxation, injury prevention and recovery, sports performance enhancement and overall health and wellness. As a mom and a distance runner I have come to rely on massage for mental, emotional, and physical well-being. The stress relief obtained while lying on a massage table is unparalleled. The physical touch and positive energy received from a professional therapist can be amazing.

As a scientist I understand the importance of taking care of the human body on the cellular level. As a runner I appreciate the importance of taking care of the body on the muscular and skeletal level. As a mother of two beautiful children I am well aware of the body’s need for physical touch and emotional support.

I look forward to using the power of bodywork to help you in your quest for wellness. It is my belief that this form of preventative health care is one of the best ways to promote and ensure a higher quality of life.

Balanced Bodies Therapeutic Massage – where form and function meet. Maximize your potential.

Peace, health, and wellness,
Melissa, MS, LMT
